XXX Sadly I wasn't old enough to see it in theaters but I remember seeing the Planet of the apes films often on television growing up. And still today it holds up extremely well. I love films that don't have an MTV editing pace and let the story and dialogue between the characters evolve in a realistic fashion. So what if Charlton Heston's acting is sometimes over the top - LOL. If you have never seen this film, at least rent it. The ending is a classic that makes your jaw drop. It is kinda ironic that they show the last frame of film in the dvd menu. very dumb indeed.

XXX The Making of is amazing and one of the best I have in my collection and close to 2 hours - wow. It chronicles the 5 films in depth and has cool behind the scenes images and interviews with the cast. Hosted by Roddy McDowall shortly before his death, it is a fascinating glimpse into the Apes movies and goes deeper into details then most studio making of featurettes.
