If you look at pictures of the Death Star, the hallways
have Oval Columns every couple of feet or so. There
are 2 sizes, Big and Regular. Let's start with the
Big :)
Take a scrap piece of Foamcore and poke 2 holes 6cm
apart.
I stuck a thumbtack into one hole and a pencil in
the next. Now trace 3 half circles onto a piece of
Foamcore. |

After you've cut out your half circle (white foamcore),
use it as a template to create 2 half circles for
the top and bottom of your unit.

we need a back piece so cut a rectangle out of foamcore
measuring 15.5cm X 12cm.
February 13, 2005
Hot glue the 2 half circle on each end of your rectangle.
Make sure the pieces are flush with either end. |
February 13, 2005
You need a spine to keep the 2 circles from collapsing
so cut out another rectangle measuring 4cm X 14.5cm
February 13, 2005
Take the spine and align it with the outer edges
of the circles and Hot glue it into place.
It doesn't matter if the foamcore colours don't match
since they will not be seen once the Unit is complete. |

Make sure the support is FLUSH with the edge of the
half circles on each end. |

February 13, 2005
In order to create the Tube we need a 15.5cm X 20.5cm
piece of Black Cardboard.
This is NOT a THICK cardboard like figure cardbacks
but a little thicker then paper. |
February 13, 2005
To make a smooth surface, start with a line of Hot
Glue ONLY on ONE side of the rear wall and gently
press the cardboard against the rectangle side. |
February 13, 2005
Take your cardboard and align it with the rear edge
along the spine of the rear foamcore support.
Press with your fingers up and down and wait for
it to dry. |

Now we are ready to glue long the circle edges and
finaly the opposite spine from the rear foamcore.
Place some Hot glue on all remaining edges ... |

... and fold gently your cardboard until it wraps
all the way around.
Go slowly, you want to avoid bubbles and big creases. |

Print out a BIG tube decal and cut out along the
edges. |

Peel the backing from your decal print and carefully
apply it to your BIG round wall unit. |

Here you can see how these accessories add detail
and movie accuracy to the set.
The great thing also is that they fit perfect within
the "Grid System" The small on the right,
measures 1 Unit and the Big (on the left) is 2 units
wide. |
