All Death Stars must start with a Floor Base. I decided to maximise the funds and allow the MOST fans possible to participate, the basic Hallway would be able to be constructed with Half a sheet of Foamcore.

February 13, 2005

First step, roll out the Mac Tac. This will be supplied at the show but is basically available at any home depot type stores in the kitchen counter or paint sections.

If you can't find any in your area, I do sell it through the site. Send me an E-mail for more information.

The cool thing about Mac Tac is that it has a sticky side already. NO GLUE needed :) just peel the backing ...

February 13, 2005

... And apply to the foamcore surface. TADA !!! instant shiny floor :)

Simply flip the base upside down and trim off the excess Mac Tac with your X-Acto Knife. Watch out for the fingers !!!

February 13, 2005

Now the back wall is cut on BLACK Foamcore to make a cleaner seem between decals. The width of this wall is 7 Decals wide.

February 13, 2005

Ah... 20 hours of work so far making Photoshop Decals - LOL. But aren't they worth the time? :)

These were done freezing the DVD to get the absolute most accurate Death Star Wall decals ever.

February 13, 2005

The cool thing about Decals at the Workshop will be that YOU get to design the wall panels.

YOU select which Wall units and where to place them inside your room. This will allow you some creativity instead of just following specific instructions. Who wants that ? :P

February 13, 2005

I left a gap on the left for the foamcore thickness, after completing the room, I decided this is not needed. More on that later.

However the procedure remains the same. Start with your first Wall panel and make sure it follows the cut.

February 13, 2005

Now repeat with all the other Wall Panels until you have your completed Rear Wall.

February 13, 2005

Flip the foamcore upside down and trim off any excess Decals to give a flush look to the front of the Diorama.

February 13, 2005

So here you can see what a finished Basic Wall will look like. This is a Difficulty 1 Scene that is perfect for the kids, beginners or just those who don't have more then 1 hour or so to spend at the Workshop.

February 13, 2005

If you watch Star Wars, you will see the Death Star ceilings have black and white strips so I cut some foamcore the depth of the Diorama floor and half of one Unit.

February 13, 2005

Using the Hot Glue gun, I start with aligning the first piece to the edge of the floor.

February 13, 2005

Then, you grab another strip for spacing, and Glue the other down. Make sure to NOT glue your spacer or you will be in BIG Poo Poo- LOL.

February 13, 2005

This is what your 2 attached pieces should look like once you remove the spacer strip. Continue on until you have the entire floor covered ...

February 13, 2005

... and looking like this. Now you are ready to flip it back right side up and stack it on to your other Death Star Hallways.

February 13, 2005

So as you can see, the top dioramas floor now also acts as the Bottom Dioramas ceiling.

February 13, 2005

Only 2 rooms and already i am getting excited :D Imagine when 500 of these will be side by site and on top of each other? :) WOW !!!

Do you want to make your own Death Star Halls Diorama at home?
These sections are also available to help with this creation.
