Let's tackle Han's chair. Using set pictures I tried
to cut out a shape in foamcore that fit the figures
proportions. |

I added a little sculpey details to give the same
ridges that the movie version has.
I also used Super Sculpey to make the top curved
part. |

Adding a Super Sculpey Seat Cushion as well as a
base created with a Pen Cap for the tube and Super
Sculpey dome, we get our finished Han Solo Chair.
You can notice the movie version in the back. |

The chair now painted. I tried making it look dirty
and it was ugly. So I repainted it. I guess I have
to practice my weathering skills :)
One more thing...if you are picky as I am - LOL -
you will have noticed that the "neck" of
the movie chair is longer then mine. I have a feeling
I might be modifying this chair before I take the
final pictures :P |

I started by cutting out the pieces I needed to
make the console.
I will add the decals this week to my download section
for you to have exact measurements in case you want
to make one as well. |

For the shelf, I cut half the section off to make
a thinner edge.
If I had thinner foamcore, I would have just glued
2 pieces together. But since the rough styrofoam will
be underneath our eyesight, I thought this would work
just as well. |

Here you can see how the shelf fits into the console
unit.
The end that sticks out is where I reduced the thickness.
I thought the dotted lines would help you see the
shape better. |

Here it is all put together. Love my hot glue gun

This angle shows you where the base foot rest is
placed. Now all we need are decals :) |

After 10 hours work, I finished the decals using
my Imac and photoshop.
This is what the declas look like once they are all
cut. I will add the downloads later this week. |

Before I glue them on the foamcore, I took my fat
felt marker and ran it along the edge of the paper
to hide the white line that is the papers thickness. |
|
 |
 |

On the left you can see that when the paper is placed
against a dark surface it leaves a white edge.
On the right I have used the marker to make the edges
black.
A small detail but I think it gives a cleaner and
better looking final result. Well worth the extra
5 minutes :) |

September 23, 2001
As you do when painting a room in your home, I painted
the edges where the decals may not completely cover.
This way there won't be any white showing through.
You could also just buy grey or black foamcore from
the start if you prefer. Then you could skip this
step. |

The decals all aplied to the foamcore. Cool eh?
Make sure to use Gluestick or white glue instead
of the Hot Glue Gun to apply the decals. The Glue
Gun dries to fast and causes ugly raised bumps underthe
paper. Trust me, I learned the hard way :) |
